Accounting Clerk

Skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience:

Educational and experience requirements include:

  • A minimum of two years business school with accounting training, one year bookkeeping (accounting) experience or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Solid computer, word processing and data entry skills are required.
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with office and field personnel are necessary.
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, perform work accurately and have the ability to work independently and interact with customers and vendors.
  • Preferred experience includes customer hauler and vendor interaction, processing cash and invoice transactions.

Primary function:

The Accounting Clerk position is responsible for helping to maintain day-to-day processes and perform accounting and administrative duties associated with the aggregate operation of one of Stark companies in the Peoria area.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Answer telephone at the location and respond to public's inquiry on aggregate material
  • Inspect loads and determine what aggregate material the driver is dropping off or buying
  • Operate computerized truck scale to weigh empty trucks and scale trucks with aggregate material loads
  • Communicate with pit operators and instruct drivers to the appropriate area to drop off and pick up aggregate material
  • Enter load information and customer/truck information into scale house computer to print scale house tickets
  • Process cash tickets
  • Log information on driver's destination for outbound material sales
  • Data entry of tickets from assigned vendors, group and process loads
  • Complete daily scale/receipt reports and maintain spreadsheets or other reports as assigned
  • Interact with CFO and Owner on various customer and vendor matters, including adjusting sales tax changes, and customer pricing
  • General accounts payable entry of bills for assigned vendors
  • Keep satellite location clean and maintain outside area
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Process scale tickets to customer invoices and mail
  • Process receipts against outstanding invoices related to scale house
  • Make contact with slow-pay customers to ensure payment receipt
